background
LuthierJohn Buscarino has a reputation for making some of the world's most prized archtop and nylon-string guitars. No doubt well deserved as John is detailed as he is thorough.
In 2008 Buscarino turned his attention to developing a speaker system that could deliver the sound of his guitars with the utmost in transparency. The chameleon speaker was born.
description|philosophy
The Chameleon 8 is a plunge into state-of-the-art electronic components, time aligned speaker mounting, mil-spec crossover and true bypass circuits.
The result of all this "sonic homework" is simply that the speaker works as designed. Frequency response is as flat as a recording studio monitor and the sound transition between woofer and tweeter is seamless.
Speaking of tweeters, Buscarino uses what may be the most musical tweeter for pro speaker applications in the business. In this respect, the Buscarino Chameleon excels.
The Buscarino Chameleon deserves your serious consideration particularly if you play an acoustic style archtop, classical aka nylon-string guitar, flat-top folk style guitar or virtually any acoustic instrument .
For electric players, the entire upper structure of the Chameleon including the crossover and tweeter can be disengaged with the simple flip of a switch located on the back panel.
The combination of exceptional detail and flat frequency response allows the Chameleon to fit several sonic roles: as a guitar speaker, as part of a compact PA, as a floor monitor, as a studio monitor for recording and mixing, as a home stereo or theater speaker (in pairs or multiples).
